Abstract

Needle Stick Injury (NSI) is a work accident that often occurs in medical personnel in health services, this event increases the risk of exposure or infection with diseases such as HBV (Hepatitis B Virus), HCV (Hepatitis C Virus) and HIV (Human Immunodeficiency Virus). ). The purpose of this study was to determine the factors associated with the incidence of NSI in inpatient nurses at the Regional Hospital in Tangerang City.

The research method uses a cross sectional design with a sample of 80 nurses, the sampling technique is total sampling, the analysis used to see the factors related to it is using the chi square test, and to see the dominant factor using the logistic regression test.

The results showed that there was no relationship between age (p-value = 0.080), level of education (p-value = 0.777), training (p-value 0.479), and SOP implementation (p-value = 0.593), with the incidence of NSI, while for the other variables, which have a relationship, namely years of service (p-value 0.000) OR = 18,857, and knowledge (p-value = 0.000) OR = 7,841, for the variable that is most dominantly related is years of service (p-value 0.000; OR 23.874; 95 CI 4.222-135.010)
